Ask your member of Congress to visit a Summer Feeding Site

This summer, the current child nutrition bill could expire, leaving our country’s children without access to programs that feed them beyond the school day, like during summer vacation.

As your members of Congress fly home for their own summer breaks during August recess, make sure they see firsthand why these child nutrition programs are so vital to your community and visit a summer feeding site.

Dear Representative/Senator,

As my Member of Congress, you have a unique ability to help Americans struggling with hunger, either by supporting funding for federal hunger-relief programs or by bringing attention to the great work being done in our state to fight hunger.

Child Nutrition Reauthorization is right around the corner, making right now the perfect time to visit a food bank to see the impact child hunger programs are having in our community.

When you visit a food bank, you begin to see the scope of the problem, as well as the importance and effectiveness of the partnership between government and charity.

Food banks and other charities can't solve the problem of child hunger alone, which is why your role as a federal legislator is so important. I am asking you to schedule a visit to a food bank to see these programs in operation and learn about how you can strengthen them as a Member of Congress.

Contact your local food bank to find a site near you: http://feedingamerica.org/foodbank-results.aspx
