The Trump Administration is trying to cut food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – again. The latest proposal will cut $4.5 billion from SNAP over five years by taking away a state's ability to determine how heating and cooling bills are taken in account when determining SNAP food assistance for their residents. This latest proposal would take 568 million meals per year from the tables of families who need food assistance, forcing families struggling with hunger to choose between heating or cooling their homes and putting food on the table.
Tell the Administration why SNAP is important to you and why this stricter rule would be harmful. Your personal comment to the note below is required to make sure the Trump Administration reviews it – they must read and record every unique comment they receive!

SNAP: Standardization of State Heating and Cooling Standard Utility Allowances - FNS-2019-0009-0001
Dear Secretary Perdue,
I am writing to oppose the cut to SNAP by restricting of States' ability to set their own heating and cooling standard utility allowances. The proposal would force families struggling with hunger to choose between heating or cooling their homes and putting food on the table.
