Hunger in the United States skyrocketed in 2020. Before the pandemic, national food insecurity levels were their lowest in 20 years, with 35 million people facing hunger. Feeding America now estimates that about 50 million people face hunger, including one in four children.

Federal nutrition programs are the most important and effective tools to address hunger, and you have a chance to amplify their impact right now in the latest relief bill. I ask that you vote to pass a COVID-19 relief bill that:

- Increases Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to address increased need due to the pandemic and economic downturn

- Expands the Child Tax Credit program to provide $300 per month to households for every child under six years of age and $250 per month for every child between the ages of six and seventeen

- Increases funding for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) by $900 million to ensure the charitable food sector has enough food to distribute to households without enough to eat

- Extends and expands funding and flexibility to ensure Child Nutrition programs like Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) can continue serving children in need

- Invests $543 million in cold storage and transportation capacity of the nation's charitable food system.
