A 15 percent increase in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits is providing families with additional, much-needed meals each month, and the expansion of the Child Tax Credit is on its way to cutting child poverty in half. The policy changes put in place in response to COVID-19 were long overdue – but they are set to expire in just a few months, while families are still counting on extra food support. Our lawmakers must ensure these policies are extended and include strong support for nutrition programs and economic assistance for families facing hunger in upcoming COVID recovery legislation.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to significantly impact people facing hunger, and food banks alone cannot meet the higher demand for emergency food assistance. If these critical policies are rolled back now, kids and families risk losing much-needed meals.
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Feeding America.
Help end hunger through COVID recovery legislation
